The federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour for more than a decade, and activists seeking to raise it have promoted the $15 target for nearly as long. According to calculations from COWS, a University of Wisconsin research and policy center, if the federal minimum wage had kept pace with increases in productivity over the last 50 years, it would now top $22 an hour.
